Fortnitemares 2026: Wednesday Addams and Haunted Labyrinth Revealed
October has arrived, and with it comes Epic Games’ favorite tradition. The developer has officially pulled back the curtain on Fortnitemares 2026, and this year’s spooky season update is shaping up to be one of the biggest in the battle royale’s history. Two massive features are headlining the event: a terrifying, playable haunted labyrinth and a highly anticipated collaboration with Netflix’s hit series, Wednesday.
Fortnite fans look forward to the annual Halloween event all year. Epic usually delivers, but the scale of the 2026 update feels different. Instead of just adding a few spooky skins and some fog, the developers are introducing entirely new gameplay mechanics designed to give players genuine chills.
Survive the Haunted Labyrinth
The centerpiece of this year’s event is an interactive, standalone haunted labyrinth map. This isn’t just a simple maze with a few jump scares. Epic Games built this experience to push the limits of Unreal Engine 5’s lighting and physics. The walls shift dynamically as you run through them. Sound design plays a massive role, too. You will hear footsteps behind you, distant screams, and the scraping of metal against stone. It is a tense, claustrophobic experience.
Players can queue up solo or in squads of up to four. The goal is simple: escape. But the execution is incredibly difficult. You won’t start with your usual loadout. Instead, you have to scavenge for resources, find hidden keys, and solve complex puzzles while running from terrifying creatures that patrol the dark corridors. Light is a precious resource here. Flashlights and torches can run out of battery or burn down, leaving squads in total pitch darkness. Epic has promised that no two runs will feel exactly the same due to the procedurally shifting paths.

Wednesday Addams Takes Over the Item Shop
The rumor mill can finally stop spinning. Wednesday Addams is officially joining the Fortnite universe. The iconic, gothic teenager from Netflix’s massive series is getting her own high-fidelity skin. Players can choose between two distinct styles: her classic Nevermore Academy striped uniform and her black gothic prom dress from the viral dance scene.
Of course, no Wednesday skin would be complete without her trusty sidekick. Thing, the animated severed hand, will be available as an interactive Back Bling. When you secure an elimination, Thing will crawl up on your shoulder and give a thumbs-up or snap its fingers. The collaboration also features a brand-new emote that lets players recreate Wednesday’s famous Rave’N dance, complete with the original music tracks. A cello-playing emote will also be available in the shop, allowing players to play a haunting melody while waiting for the storm circle to close.
Spooky Loot and Map Changes
While the labyrinth and the Wednesday crossover are the main attractions, the classic Battle Royale island is also getting plenty of love. The map has been plunged into a perpetual twilight, with thick fog rolling across the grassy fields. Creepy decorations have popped up at major Points of Interest, and a few locations have been completely overrun by the cube monsters.
Classic Fortnitemares weapons are returning from the vault. The Pumpkin Launcher is back to blast enemies with explosive jack-o’-lanterns. The Witch Broom makes its return, allowing players to escape tight gunfights by launching into the air and gliding away. Epic is also introducing a new weapon: the Stake Thrower, which deals massive damage to players and monsters alike. Candy buckets are scattered across the island, giving players quick shields, speed boosts, or low-gravity effects when consumed.
Fortnitemares 2026 is scheduled to launch next Tuesday with Patch 31.40. Players can expect the event to run until early November, giving everyone plenty of time to explore the labyrinth, complete the spooky event challenges, and unlock a variety of free Halloween-themed cosmetics. Get your squads ready. It’s going to be a terrifying ride.
