Fortnite Fortnitemares 2026: Disney Villains Take Over
Epic Games kicks off Fortnitemares 2026 with an epic Disney Villains collaboration, featuring Maleficent’s castle and powerful new mythic abilities.
Disney’s Darkest Icons Invade the Battle Royale Island
Epic Games has officially launched Fortnitemares 2026. This year, the spooky season brings a massive crossover that players have been anticipating for months: the arrival of Disney’s most iconic villains. The battle royale island has undergone a dark transformation, complete with a towering replica of Maleficent’s castle and brand-new supernatural abilities that are set to shake up the competitive meta.
It is all part of Epic’s massive, ongoing partnership with Disney. You might remember the massive $1.5 billion investment Disney made in Epic back in early 2024. Now, we are seeing the fruit of that deal in the spookiest way possible. The island has never felt this eerie.
Explore Maleficent’s Cursed Castle
Let’s talk about the map first. Replacing the usual peaceful meadows, a massive, jagged fortress now dominates the northern horizon. This is Maleficent’s Castle, a grim Gothic fortress surrounded by giant thorns and glowing green fog.
If you dare to land there, you will find more than just high-tier loot. The castle features a gloomy, labyrinthine layout filled with automated gargoyle sentries and hidden chests. It is an incredibly hot drop. Expect heavy fighting right off the spawn if you decide to touch down here.

Wield Supernatural Mythic Powers
The real draw of Fortnitemares 2026 is the new suite of mythic items. Epic has added three distinct supernatural powers based on the invading villains:
- Maleficent’s Scepter: This mythic weapon allows players to conjure pillars of green dragon-fire, dealing heavy area-of-effect damage and burning enemy structures. It also lets you levitate briefly, giving you a quick escape option during intense build fights.
- Captain Hook’s Cutlass: Landing a hit with this weapon triggers a lunging strike that can close gaps instantly. It comes paired with a flintlock pistol that deals massive knockback.
- Cruella’s Whip: An agility-focused tool that lets you grapple across the map and yank enemies out of their cover.
Getting these items won’t be easy. To claim Maleficent’s Scepter, you will have to defeat the Maleficent boss NPC lurking in the throne room of her castle. She is a tough fight, boasting a massive shield pool and the ability to summon thorny barricades mid-combat.
Villainous Cosmetics in the Item Shop
Alongside the gameplay changes, the Item Shop is getting a major villainous upgrade. Players can finally buy skins for Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Cruella de Vil. Each outfit comes with unique back blings and pickaxes. For example, Maleficent features a reactive style that cloaks her in emerald flames whenever you get an elimination, while Captain Hook comes with his signature crocodile companion as a pet back bling.
The update also brings back some classic Fortnitemares elements. Horde Rush is back, letting squads team up to fight off waves of Cube Monsters. This year, though, the monsters have a slight twist, sporting shadowy, thorn-like designs inspired by Maleficent’s curse.
Event Schedule
Fortnitemares 2026 is live now on all platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile. The event is scheduled to run until November 3, giving players plenty of time to explore the cursed castle, master the new mythic powers, and grab the limited-time cosmetics before they rotate out of the shop. Grab your squad and prepare for a spooky drop.
