Fortnitemares 2026 Brings Blumhouse Horror and Revamped UEFN Horde Rush
Epic Games partners with Blumhouse for Fortnitemares 2026, introducing iconic modern horror skins and a massive UEFN rebuild for Horde Rush.
Epic Games has officially pulled back the curtain on Fortnitemares 2026. It looks like a wild ride. This year, the developer is teaming up with Blumhouse Productions to bring some of the most popular modern horror icons to the island. Alongside these terrifying new faces, players can expect a massive upgrade to the beloved Horde Rush mode, courtesy of the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). It is a major shift in how Fortnite handles its annual spooky season.
The event kicks off on October 13, 2026. It will run through November 3, giving players three weeks to unlock exclusive rewards, explore a haunted map, and fight off smarter, deadlier monsters.
Modern Horror Hits the Battle Royale Island
Instead of relying on classic movie monsters of the past, Epic is leaning heavily into contemporary cinema. The partnership with Blumhouse brings a stellar lineup of outfits and cosmetics directly to the item shop. Leading the pack is M3GAN, the killer AI doll. Players can purchase her skin, which comes with a built-in emote that replicates her viral, eerie hallway dance.
But she is not the only one coming to haunt the island. The crossover also features the terrifying Grabber from The Black Phone, complete with his creepy, swappable masks. Rumors of a Five Nights at Freddy's collaboration have also finally come true. Freddy Fazbear and Springtrap will make their debut as playable outfits, featuring custom back blings designed after the haunted pizza parlor's animatronics.
“We wanted to bridge the gap between classic jump scares and the psychological horror that modern audiences love,” says Marcus Vance, a lead character designer at Epic Games. “Blumhouse has defined a whole generation of scary movies. Bringing their characters into the Fortnite world felt incredibly natural.”

The Blumhouse Backlot POI
The map itself is getting a spooky makeover. A new point of interest called the Blumhouse Backlot has appeared near the center of the island. This decaying movie studio is filled with sets inspired by various Blumhouse films. Entering the area triggers a grain filter on your screen, mimicking old VHS tapes. Fog clings heavily to the ground here, making it easy for enemies to sneak up on you.
Horde Rush Gets a Massive UEFN Upgrade
Beyond the cosmetics, the biggest gameplay change lies in the fan-favorite Horde Rush mode. Traditionally, this is a fast-paced co-op mode where teams fight off waves of purple Cube Monsters. This year, Epic has completely rebuilt the experience from scratch using UEFN.
This toolset has allowed the developers to design far more complex environments and smarter enemy AI. The new Horde Rush features dynamic lighting, claustrophobic corridors, and bosses that do not just mindlessly run at you. Instead, the monsters will now flank your squad, seek cover, and coordinate their attacks in the dark.
Epic is also opening the floodgates to community creators. For the first time, players can design their own custom Horde Rush maps using official UEFN templates. Epic will feature the best community-made maps in the main playlist throughout the event. Players who complete challenges on these user-generated stages can earn exclusive, free cosmetics.
Spooky Loot and Halloween Challenges
No Fortnitemares is complete without a chaotic loot pool. The classic Pumpkin Launcher is back in action with a slightly faster reload speed. Witch Brooms return to help players glide over the island, while a new item called the Blumhouse Elixir grants players temporary invisibility. The catch? You cannot use weapons for ten seconds after drinking it, making it a high-risk tool for escaping tight spots.
There are fifteen new Fortnitemares quests to complete. Finishing them all unlocks the “Chrome Skull” glider and a creepy animated loading screen. Get your squads ready. The fog is rolling in, and the monsters are waiting.
