Fortnite Players Blast Epic Games Over Wednesday Addams Skin Price
Fortnite fans are furious after leaks revealed the high V-Bucks pricing for the upcoming Wednesday Addams and classic horror skins.
A Spooky Season Spoiled by Price Tags
Fortnitemares is usually the most anticipated event on the Fortnite calendar. Every October, Epic Games rolls out spooky decorations, themed gameplay, and a massive lineup of Halloween skins. But this year, the excitement has quickly turned into anger. Recent leaks showcasing the highly anticipated Wednesday Addams and classic horror crossover skins have sparked intense backlash from the community. The issue isn’t the designs—it is the eye-watering V-Bucks price tags.
The Cost of Terror
Prominent data miners, including HYPEX and ShiinaBR, shared the upcoming item shop details online. The leaks confirmed that Wednesday Addams, inspired by the hit Netflix series, is heading to the battle royale. She is scheduled to arrive alongside a roster of classic horror icons, including Dracula and Frankenstein’s Monster. But the virtual currency required to purchase them has shocked even veteran players.
According to the leaked data, the Wednesday Addams skin will cost 2,200 V-Bucks on its own. For players wanting the complete set—which features a “Thing” shoulder pet back bling, a cello emote, and a custom harvesting tool—the price jumps to 3,600 V-Bucks. The classic horror skins are not much cheaper, with individual characters starting at 2,000 V-Bucks. In real-world money, buying just one bundle will set players back nearly $30.
Players Cry Foul Over Pricing Creep
The community response was swift and overwhelmingly negative. On Reddit and X, players accused Epic Games of greed. Many pointed out that previous crossover skins, like Jack Skellington or Michael Myers from older Fortnitemares events, were priced around 1,500 V-Bucks. The sudden jump to over 2,000 V-Bucks for a single character feels like a step too far for many fans.
- Wednesday Addams Solo Skin: 2,200 V-Bucks
- Wednesday Addams Complete Bundle: 3,600 V-Bucks
- Classic Horror Icon Skins: 2,000 V-Bucks each
- Classic Horror Monster Bundle: 5,000 V-Bucks
“I was so ready to buy Wednesday the second she dropped,” one user wrote on the r/FortniteBR subreddit. “But 2,200 V-Bucks for one skin is ridiculous. That is almost the price of a whole indie game. I cannot justify it anymore.”
Others highlighted a worrying trend. Epic Games recently removed cosmetic rarity colors from the game locker. At the time, players feared this change would allow the developer to charge premium prices for average skins without the visual tag. These new leaks seem to confirm those fears.
Will Epic Games Back Down?
This is not the first time Fortnite’s virtual economy has come under fire. Over the past year, the pricing of vehicle skins and instruments for the game’s Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival modes also drew heavy criticism. In those cases, Epic eventually lowered some prices after sustained player outrage.
Whether they will do the same for the Fortnitemares lineup remains to be seen. Epic Games rarely comments on leaks before they officially go live in the game store. However, with the community actively calling for a boycott of the Halloween shop, the developers may be forced to reconsider their strategy before the event officially launches. Until then, players are left deciding whether their favorite horror characters are worth the steep real-world cost.
