Fortnitemares 2026: Epic Games Reveals FNAF Crossover and Co-Op Mode

Epic Games has announced Fortnitemares 2026, featuring a massive crossover with Five Nights at Freddy’s and a brand-new cooperative survival mode.

The Nightmare Begins on the Island

Halloween is still a few weeks away, but Epic Games is already setting the stage for its biggest autumn event yet. Fortnitemares 2026 is officially on the horizon. This time, the developer is delivering something players have begged for over years: a massive crossover with Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Rumors about the animatronics invading Fortnite have swirled around the internet for ages. Every teaser, every update, fans looked for a Freddy Fazbear silhouette. Now, the wait is over. Epic shared the full details on Tuesday, outlining a massive mid-October update that introduces iconic horror characters, exclusive cosmetics, and an entirely new way to play.

Survive the Night in a Brand-New Co-Op Mode

Instead of just dropping skins into the Item Shop, Epic is going all out. The centerpiece of the event is a brand-new cooperative horde survival mode. It takes direct inspiration from the tense atmosphere of Scott Cawthon’s classic indie horror series. In this mode, players won’t be fighting each other. Instead, teams of four must band together to survive five increasingly difficult nights inside a decaying, atmospheric location that looks suspiciously like a retro pizza parlor.

The mechanics sound incredibly tense. “We wanted to capture the claustrophobia and dread of the original game,” an Epic Games spokesperson said in a recent preview. “It’s not just about shooting. You have to manage resources, watch your back, and work together to keep the power running.”

To survive, players must manage a limited power grid. You’ll need to lock down security doors, monitor security cameras scattered around the map, and fend off waves of aggressive animatronic husks. If the power runs out, you’re left in the dark. That’s when the jump scares start. Players can use materials to barricade windows, but these barricades won’t hold forever against the robotic onslaught.

Fazbear and Friends Enter the Item Shop

Of course, the crossover wouldn’t be complete without the skins. Players can expect to see Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy in the Item Shop starting on night one of the event. Each outfit comes with unique styles, including “withered” variants for players who prefer a more damaged, eerie look. There is also talk of a legendary Springtrap skin that players can unlock by completing specific in-game challenges.

The cosmetics aren’t just cosmetic. Some of them feature built-in emotes that mimic the robotic, jerky movements of the haunted machines. Back blings will include mini animatronic plushies that react to your gameplay—screaming whenever you get an elimination or whimpering when you take damage.

Map Changes and Free Rewards

The battle royale map itself is getting a haunting makeover. The center of the Island will now feature “Freddy’s Fright,” a sprawling new Point of Interest (POI). This location is filled with tight corridors, flickering lights, and hidden vents. Exploring the pizzeria rewards players with high-tier loot, but it also exposes them to wandering animatronics that act as hostile boss NPCs. Defeating Freddy himself will net players a mythic weapon: a Fazbear-themed microphone that releases devastating sonic blasts.

Playing the new mode isn’t just for thrills. Epic is introducing a free event pass, similar to past mini-events. By racking up points in the survival mode, players can unlock free rewards, including:

  • A “Carl the Cupcake” back bling
  • A custom loading screen drawn in the classic FNAF promotional art style
  • A creepy pizza-box glider
  • Exclusive event wraps and spray icons

Fortnitemares 2026 is scheduled to launch on Tuesday, October 13, following the release of the v36.10 update. The event will run through early November, giving players plenty of time to earn limited-time rewards and complete their spooky challenges.

Whether you are a seasoned battle royale veteran or a die-hard horror fan, this year’s event looks to offer something genuinely different. Gather your squad, watch the cameras, and whatever you do, don’t let the power drop to zero.
