Fortnitemares 2026 Launches with Disney Villains and Dark Map POIs
Epic Games kicks off Fortnitemares 2026, bringing Disney’s most iconic villains, spooky new map locations, and classic unvaulted weapons to the island.
A Dark Magic Overhaul on the Battle Royale Island
Spooky season has officially taken over Fortnite. Epic Games has launched Fortnitemares 2026, and this year’s iteration of the annual Halloween event is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious in the game’s history. For weeks, data miners and casual players alike have speculated about what Epic had up its sleeve. Now, the veil has been lifted.
The headline attraction is a massive, highly anticipated crossover with Disney’s legendary roster of villains. Following Epic’s massive corporate partnership with Disney, players knew some big collaborations were on the horizon. But few expected the villains to seize the island so aggressively. From Maleficent to Captain Hook, the baddest names in animation are making their presence felt in the battle royale arena.
Cruella, Maleficent, and Hook Join the Hunt
According to early patch notes and leaks from prominent community insiders like HYPEX and ShiinaBR, three iconic Disney antagonists are leading the charge. Maleficent, the Mistress of All Evil, arrives with a stunning cel-shaded style and a built-in emote that lets her transform briefly into her dragon form. She is joined by Captain Hook, sporting a highly detailed pirate outfit, and Cruella de Vil, who brings a sleek, modern gothic aesthetic to the item shop.
each skin comes with its own unique back bling, pickaxe, and glider. Rumors also suggest that Ursula from The Little Mermaid and Hades from Hercules might make surprise appearances later in the month as the event progresses toward its late-October climax.
New Haunted POIs Transform the Map
Epic Games didn’t just stop at selling cosmetics. The island’s geography has undergone a dramatic, eerie facelift. Several key locations have been corrupted by dark magic, offering new tactical opportunities and plenty of scares.
The most notable change is the emergence of Maleficent’s Bramble, which replaces the peaceful fields near the center of the map. This POI is dominated by a towering, crumbling stone fortress surrounded by glowing green embers and massive, thorny vines. Getting too close to the thorns deals passive damage, forcing players to rethink their rotations through the mid-map.
Over on the western coast, the sandy beaches have been swallowed by Pirate’s Plunder, a misty, dimly lit harbor ruled by Captain Hook’s crew. Here, players can board a massive wooden galleon to search for high-tier loot chests. Be warned, though: the ship is guarded by hostile NPC deckhands who will open fire on sight.
Witch Brooms and Pumpkin Launchers Return
It wouldn’t be Fortnitemares without some wacky seasonal gameplay mechanics. The beloved Witch Broom has been unvaulted, allowing players to launch themselves into the air and glide to safety. It is the perfect tool for escaping a tight pinch or gaining the high ground during a build battle.
The Pumpkin Launcher is also back, firing explosive jack-o’-lanterns that scream as they fly through the air. But Epic has added a new twist this year: the Villain’s Sigil. These rare, mythical items can be looted from bosses at the new POIs. Equipping Maleficent’s Sigil, for instance, grants players a temporary levitation jump and the ability to summon a ring of green fire that damages nearby enemies.
Additionally, the fan-favorite ‘Horde Rush’ cooperative mode makes a triumphant return. Teams of four can band together to fight off waves of Cube Monsters, earn unique event rewards, and complete specific Fortnitemares challenges to unlock free cosmetics, including a stylized bat-themed glider and a spooky jack-o’-lantern weapon wrap.
The Fortnitemares 2026 event is live now across all platforms and is scheduled to run until November 3, giving players plenty of time to explore the dark corners of the island, master the new mythic abilities, and secure some truly wicked victories.
