Epic Games details Fortnitemares 2026, featuring iconic Disney Villains skins, spooky weapon unvaults, and a major PvE Horde Rush overhaul.

A Spooky Crossover Unlike Any Other

Halloween is right around the corner, and that means one thing for Fortnite players: Fortnitemares is back. Epic Games has finally shared the first official details for its 2026 spooky event, and it is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious updates in years. This time around, the developers are leaning heavily into their massive partnership with Disney to bring some of the entertainment giant’s most iconic antagonists to the island.

It is not just about cosmetic items, though. Epic is also overhauling its popular player-versus-environment (PvE) gameplay, bringing back a fan-favorite mode with brand-new mechanics. Players can expect a completely fresh way to hunt monsters with their friends.

The Disney Villains Take Over the Island

The biggest talking point of Fortnitemares 2026 is undoubtedly the arrival of classic Disney Villains. Following Epic’s landmark collaboration deal with Disney, fans have been waiting to see how deep the crossover would go. Now we have an answer. Several legendary bad guys are set to make their debut in the Item Shop, complete with custom harvesting tools, back blings, and emotes.

Insiders and teasers point to three major names leading the pack. Here is what players can expect to see in the shop:

  • Maleficent Bundle: Includes the dark fairy skin, a staff harvesting tool, and a pet raven back bling.
  • Captain Hook Pack: Features the pirate captain, a rapier sword pickaxe, and a miniature Jolly Roger flag.
  • Davy Jones Set: Comes with a seaweed-draped outfit, a dead man’s chest back bling, and a dual-wielded cutlass tool.

Each skin is rumored to have unique cel-shaded or highly detailed 3D variants that match Fortnite’s distinct aesthetic. For instance, players using the Maleficent skin might be able to transform into a dragon during specific lobby animations, while Davy Jones could feature a reactive back bling that drips seawater as you rack up eliminations. Epic has kept the exact pricing under wraps. However, industry analysts expect these skins to be sold in premium bundles, similar to previous high-profile collaborations with Star Wars and Marvel. Some items might also be unlockable through special in-game challenges during the event.

Horde Rush Returns with a Dark Magic Twist

If you prefer fighting monsters instead of other players, you are in luck. The beloved Horde Rush mode is making its return, but it will not be the same old grind. Epic is introducing a new PvE experience that incorporates dark magic elements and rogue-like mechanics.

Get Know Inastant Reward

In this updated version, squads of four will navigate a decaying, fog-covered map while fighting off relentless waves of Cube Monsters. As you survive each round, you can purchase temporary power-ups at spooky vending machines. These perks might boost your movement speed, grant siphon health on eliminations, or add elemental fire damage to your bullets.

New Boss Fights and Rewards

The finale of each Horde Rush match has also been redesigned. Instead of fighting a generic giant monster, squads will face off against unique bosses equipped with supernatural abilities. Beating these bosses will not be easy, but the rewards are worth the struggle. Completing specific Horde Rush challenges will unlock free cosmetics, including a reactive weapon wrap and a spooky loading screen designed by community artists.

Spooky Weapons and Map Changes

No Fortnitemares event is complete without changes to the main Battle Royale map. Epic is set to shroud several major points of interest in a thick, eerie fog. The familiar green grass of the island will turn a pale, dead gray, and jack-o’-lanterns will light up the porches of residential areas.

We are also seeing the return of classic unvaulted weapons. The Pumpkin Launcher is back to cause explosive chaos, alongside the Wood Stake Shotgun, which deals extra damage to certain monster types. Epic is also introducing a new throwable item called the Witch’s Brew. Throwing it at the ground creates a cloud of toxic gas that damages enemies while slowly healing your teammates’ shields.

When Does Fortnitemares 2026 Start?

While Epic has not announced a specific time down to the minute, the event is scheduled to launch in mid-October. Historically, these updates go live on a Tuesday morning following a few hours of server downtime. The spooky festivities will run through the first week of November, giving players plenty of time to complete their challenges and grab the limited-time Disney cosmetics before they disappear from the shop.

Gather your squad, stock up on shield potions, and get ready. The island is about to get a lot scarier.
