Epic Games Partners With Blumhouse for Fortnitemares 2026
Epic Games is teaming up with horror powerhouse Blumhouse for Fortnitemares 2026, featuring custom escape rooms and spooky skins starting October 15.
Epic Games is pulling out all the stops for its annual Halloween celebration. On October 15, the publisher will launch Fortnitemares 2026, and they are bringing one of the biggest names in modern horror along for the ride. Movie giant Blumhouse is officially partnering with Fortnite to deliver a mix of interactive gameplay and exclusive cosmetics.
This is not just about buying new outfits in the Item Shop, though plenty of those are on the way. The real core of this collaboration lies in user-generated content. Epic and Blumhouse are launching a series of interactive, horror-themed escape rooms built right inside the game.
A New Kind of Digital Terror
In the past, Fortnitemares relied heavily on pre-made game modes and standard battle royale map changes. This year shifts the focus to grassroots player creativity. Utilizing Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), creators can design highly detailed, terrifying environments. Players will navigate dark corridors, solve complex puzzles, and try to escape creepy scenarios before the clock runs out.
“We wanted to give players more than just simple jump scares this year,” said Saxs Persson, Executive Vice President of the Fortnite Ecosystem at Epic Games. “By partnering with Blumhouse, we are bringing psychological tension into the creative mode. Players now have the tools to build their own playable nightmares.”
Blumhouse Games, the film studio’s recently formed interactive division, will actively curate the best player-made maps. A dedicated hub inside Fortnite’s Discover menu will showcase these community-built experiences throughout October. To make things sweeter, Epic is releasing a fresh pack of horror-themed assets, sound effects, and lighting presets to help creators build their levels.

Iconic Horror Skins Are Coming
Jason Blum, founder and CEO of Blumhouse, sees the partnership as a natural evolution for his brand. “Fortnite has become a massive social hub,” Blum said. “It is the perfect place to experiment with new ways of telling scary stories. Giving fans the power to build their own Blumhouse-inspired worlds is a thrilling step.”
Of course, Fortnitemares would not be complete without premium cosmetics. The partnership will bring several highly requested Blumhouse characters to the virtual Item Shop. While the exact lineup remains under wraps, industry insiders hint that the creepy killer doll M3GAN and the Grabber from The Black Phone are likely candidates for the store.
These skins will be sold individually or as part of larger bundles, featuring custom emotes, harvesting tools, and back blings designed to terrify opponents during battle royale matches. Rumors suggest that players who complete a certain number of the featured Blumhouse escape rooms will also unlock free, event-exclusive rewards like weapon wraps and loading screens.
Epic’s Platform Strategy
This collaboration highlights Epic’s ongoing goal to turn Fortnite into a massive entertainment platform rather than just a shooting game. Recent partnerships with Disney, Lego, and now Blumhouse show a clear pattern. Epic wants Fortnite to be the central hub where all pop culture meets.
For Blumhouse, the strategy is equally clear. The company launched its gaming division to produce indie-style horror games. Getting their name in front of Fortnite’s massive daily active user base is an incredibly smart marketing play. It builds immediate hype for their upcoming slate of theatrical releases.
Halloween is coming early. Whether you prefer solving puzzles in a tense digital maze or just want to run around the island as a horror icon, Fortnitemares 2026 is shaping up to be a memorable event. Get your squad ready. The nightmares begin on October 15.
