Epic Games brings Disney’s most iconic villains to the Fortnite Item Shop, featuring customizable skins for Maleficent, Hades, and Captain Hook.

Disney’s Most Famous Bad Guys Take Over the Island

Fortnite players can finally unleash their dark side. Epic Games has officially brought some of Disney’s most iconic antagonists to the battle royale, launching the highly anticipated Disney Villains collection in the Item Shop. The drop arrived right in the middle of October, perfectly timed for the annual Fortnitemares season.

Three legendary evildoers have joined the roster: Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Hades from Hercules, and Captain Hook from Peter Pan. Each outfit comes packed with custom gear, unique styles, and plenty of attitude.

A Closer Look at the Villains

Maleficent, the self-proclaimed Mistress of All Evil, is a true standout in this crossover. Her Fortnite rendition captures her classic animated look with her towering black horns and elegant robes. Epic didn’t stop at a basic design, though. Players can switch to an alternate style that gives her glowing green eyes and an ominous magical aura. Her bundle includes the Raven Back Bling—a nod to her loyal pet Diablo—and her iconic green-tipped staff as a pickaxe. What really steals the show is her glider, which lets players descend onto the island on the back of a massive, shadowy dragon.

Then there is Hades. Do not confuse him with the green-tinged ruler of the Underworld from Fortnite’s own Greek mythology season earlier this year. This is the fast-talking, blue-flamed king of the dead from Disney’s beloved 1997 animated film. Epic nailed his design. His blue hair actually flickers like real fire. When players get eliminations in the game, his flames flare up, turning from cool blue to a raging hot orange. He comes with a skull-adorned throne Back Bling and a dark, key-shaped pickaxe. His custom emote allows players to mock their opponents with his signature theatrical eye-roll.

Rounding out the trio is Captain Hook. The elegant pirate captain from Neverland brings a mix of comedy and menace to the island. He is dressed in his bright red coat and feathered hat, sporting his gleaming hook. Hook’s pickaxe is a classic cutlass, and his Back Bling features a miniature, ticking clock inside a treasure chest. Epic also added a hilarious traversal emote where Hook frantically runs away from the sound of a ticking crocodile.

The Growing Disney and Epic Games Partnership

This crossover is more than just a fun Halloween release. It represents a massive step forward in the deepening partnership between Epic Games and Disney. Early in 2024, Disney bought a massive $1.5 billion stake in Epic Games. The goal of this investment is to build an entirely new, persistent universe within Fortnite. This digital playground will let fans play, watch, and shop with Disney characters and stories. While that massive project is still a couple of years away, releases like the Disney Villains collection show how quickly the two entertainment giants are integrating their worlds.

Pricing and Bundles

If you want to add these classic characters to your locker, here is how the pricing breaks down:

  • Individual Skins: Each villain skin costs 1,500 V-Bucks, which is the standard rate for licensed crossover cosmetics.
  • Gear Bundles: You can purchase individual pickaxes, emotes, and gliders if you only want specific accessories.
  • The Disney Villains Bundle: This offers the best overall value, giving you all three characters, their Back Blings, pickaxes, and emotes at a heavily discounted V-Bucks price.

For years, Fortnite has been a massive pop-culture museum. You can see Goku fighting Darth Vader while Ariana Grande dances in the background. Adding Disney’s classic bad guys to the mix makes perfect sense. It gives older fans a dose of nostalgia while giving younger players some of the coolest-looking designs the game has seen all year. Just make sure to grab them before they vanish back into the Disney vault.
