Epic Games launches a permanent Disney Marketplace in Fortnite, introducing exclusive Pixar and villain skins for Fortnitemares.

A Permanent Home for Disney Magic in Fortnite

Epic Games just made its massive partnership with Disney a lot more tangible. Starting this week, Fortnite players will notice a brand-new, permanent addition to the game’s Item Shop: the Disney Marketplace. This dedicated storefront is here to stay, fundamentally changing how Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars cosmetics are sold in the battle royale.

The grand opening of this digital mall coincides perfectly with the launch of Fortnitemares. To celebrate, Epic is rolling out a highly anticipated wave of iconic Disney Villains and Pixar characters, just in time for the spooky season. It marks the first major step in Disney’s $1.5 billion investment to build a persistent universe inside Fortnite.

Classic Villains Take Center Stage

For years, players have begged for classic Disney antagonists to join the island. This season finally delivers. The Disney Marketplace debuts with three legendary villains, each coming with their own set of custom cosmetics.

  • Maleficent: The Mistress of All Evil arrives with a reactive raven back bling and a green-flamed staff that functions as a harvesting tool. Players can also purchase a glider that transforms into her iconic dragon form.
  • Captain Hook: Neverland’s most infamous pirate comes with a Jolly Roger cape and a hook-handed pickaxe. His traversal emote allows him to mockingly duel an invisible Peter Pan.
  • Cruella de Vil: The fashion-obsessed villainess makes a grand entrance, sporting her signature black-and-white hair and a dramatic fur coat. Her bundle includes a glider modeled after her roaring classic roadster.

These skins are not just highly detailed. They also feature unique built-in emotes and cell-shaded variants that allow players to match the original animated film aesthetics or opt for a modern, 3D Fortnite style.

Pixar Brings the Spooky and the Sweet

It is not just about the bad guys. Pixar is also making a massive splash in the new marketplace, drawing heavily on fan-favorite films that fit the autumnal vibe. Leading the charge is a collection based on Disney-Pixar’s Coco.

Miguel Rivera is finally playable, featuring a reactive style that transforms him into his Land of the Dead skeleton form whenever he eliminates an opponent or emotes. He is joined by Héctor, and players can grab a guitar pickaxe that plays snippets of ‘Remember Me’ when striking structures. Additionally, rumors of a Toy Story crossover featuring mutated toys from Sid’s room have kept the community buzzing, though Epic has kept those under wraps for now.

Ending the FOMO Era

The most significant aspect of this update is not the skins themselves, but how players buy them. Historically, Fortnite has relied heavily on the fear of missing out—or FOMO. Items appeared in the shop for a day or two and then vanished, sometimes for years. The Disney Marketplace changes the rules.

Because this tab is permanent, these Disney and Pixar cosmetics will remain available year-round. Players no longer have to worry about hoarding V-Bucks for a sudden, surprise collab drop. They can buy their favorite characters whenever they want. This is a massive shift in Epic’s monetization strategy, suggesting that Disney wants its intellectual properties accessible at all times to maximize long-term sales.

Building the Disney-Epic Universe

This integration is only the beginning. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has frequently spoken about creating an interconnected digital ecosystem. When Disney acquired its stake in Epic, both companies promised a multi-year project that would allow players to play, watch, and shop in a massive Disney-themed world built inside Fortnite’s Unreal Engine.

By establishing a permanent retail hub, Epic is laying the groundwork for that universe. In the coming months, expect the marketplace to expand with dedicated sections for Lucasfilm and Marvel, offering players a single, reliable spot to assemble their digital collections.

Whether you want to terrorize the battle royale as Maleficent or search for Victory Royales as Miguel, the Disney Marketplace is open for business. The new skins are available starting today, with individual bundles priced between 1,500 and 2,500 V-Bucks.
