Fortnite Chapter 7 Launches Permanent Marvel and Star Wars Worlds
Epic Games launches Disney Chronicles in Fortnite Chapter 7, introducing permanent Star Wars and Marvel survival-crafting universes.
Epic Games is taking its massive partnership with Disney to an entirely new scale. With the launch of Fortnite Chapter 7, the developer has introduced “Disney Chronicles,” a massive expansion that brings permanent, standalone Marvel and Star Wars survival-crafting worlds directly into the game’s ecosystem.
This is not just another temporary crossover event. It is a fundamental shift in what Fortnite represents. For years, characters like Spider-Man, Darth Vader, and Iron Man dropped into the battle royale island for a few weeks before vanishing back into the vault. Now, they have their own persistent realities. Players can jump into these worlds at any time, build bases, gather resources, and survive against iconic threats.
A New Era of Survival and Crafting
The new modes build on the foundation laid by LEGO Fortnite. But instead of plastic bricks, players are dealing with the gritty reality of the outer rim or the high-tech ruins of a post-collapse superhero world. The Star Wars and Marvel experiences exist as completely separate, procedurally generated maps. Each world supports up to 16 players in a single session, allowing friends to team up and colonize these famous fictional universes together.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney teased this future during a recent industry panel. “We wanted to stop treating these incredible worlds like temporary guest stars,” Sweeney said. “With Disney Chronicles, we are building a persistent virtual space where these stories can live, breathe, and evolve alongside our players.”
Building Stark Tech and Surviving the Empire
In the Marvel survival world, players crash-land on a shattered fragment of Battleworld. The goal is simple: survive. To do that, you have to scavenge alien metal, harvest vibranium veins, and build secure bases to fend off nighttime raids by Ultron sentries and Hydra mercenaries. The crafting system is deep. You start by assembling crude tools out of scrap metal, but eventually, you can build advanced fabrication tables to craft repulsor gloves, shield generators, and even functional Quinjets for map traversal.

The Star Wars experience takes a different approach. Set on an isolated planet in the Outer Rim, players must battle the harsh environment and lingering Imperial factions. You can construct moisture vaporators, domesticate local wildlife like Banthas, and scavenge downed Star Destroyers for rare components. A deep lightsaber-crafting mechanic allows players to hunt down Kyber crystals in dangerous underground caverns, creating their own custom weapons with unique combat attributes.
The $1.5 Billion Bet Pays Off
This massive launch is the first major realization of Disney’s $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games, which was announced in early 2024. At the time, Disney CEO Bob Iger called it the company’s “biggest entry ever into the world of games.” Now, players can finally see what that money bought.
Unlike previous seasons where licensed content was locked behind a battle pass, Disney Chronicles is free for all Fortnite players. Epic plans to monetize the experience through specialized item shops containing building blueprints, cosmetic outfits, and unique crafting recipes. Crucially, any cosmetics purchased in these survival worlds will carry over to the classic Battle Royale mode, and vice versa.
What Lies Ahead
Epic Games has already confirmed that this is just the beginning. The developer plans to update both worlds with seasonal content, introducing new biomes, boss fights, and crafting materials every few months. There are also rumors of a third Disney-themed world, potentially based on classic animation or Pixar properties, coming later next year.
Fortnite is no longer just a shooter. It is a sprawling digital amusement park where players can fight for a victory royale, build a virtual Lego town, or explore a distant galaxy. By making these Disney worlds permanent, Epic has solidified its position as the leading architect of the modern metaverse.
