Leaked renders reveal Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Cruella de Vil are heading to Fortnite for this year’s spooky Fortnitemares event.

The Dark Side of Disney Comes to the Island

Halloween is still a ways off. Epic Games is already preparing to scare up some serious excitement, though. The annual Fortnitemares event is always a massive draw for Fortnite players, bringing creepy map changes, spooky weapons, and highly anticipated crossover cosmetics. This year, the hype is reaching a fever pitch. A fresh batch of leaks has hit the internet, and they point to one of the most unexpected, nostalgic crossovers in the battle royale’s history: classic Disney villains.

We already knew Epic Games was cozying up to the House of Mouse. Disney made headlines earlier this year when it invested a staggering $1.5 billion into Epic Games. Players have been waiting to see the fruits of that massive partnership. While we have had plenty of Star Wars and Marvel skins over the years, this upcoming drop marks a pivot toward Disney’s own animated history. And they are starting with the bad guys.

Who Are the Leaked Villains?

Prominent Fortnite insiders and dataminers, including reliable names like ShiinaBR and HYPEX, recently shared the first rendered looks at the upcoming skins. The initial wave features three of Disney’s most iconic antagonists. They have been faithfully adapted to fit Fortnite’s distinct, slightly stylized aesthetic without losing what makes them terrifyingly recognizable.

First up is Maleficent, the Mistress of All Evil. Her skin features her signature towering black-and-purple robes and horned headdress. Leakers suggest her harvesting tool will be her iconic golden staff, which might even glow with green magical energy when swinging. There is also chatter about a reactive dragon glider, though Epic has yet to confirm this.

Then there is Captain Hook from Peter Pan. He looks remarkably elegant yet menacing, complete with his crimson captain’s coat, feathered hat, and a literal mustache-twirling expression. His hook isn’t just for show either. Rumors suggest it will function as a unique, single-handed harvesting tool, giving players a very different way to smash through walls and harvest materials.

Rounding out the trio is Cruella de Vil. Based on her classic 1961 animated look, she sports her dramatic oversized fur coat, bright red gloves, and her famous half-black, half-white hairstyle. It is a high-fashion nightmare that is bound to stand out on the battlefield. No, she won’t have a coat made of Dalmatians, but her back bling is rumored to be a stylish, sinister accessory that fits her luxury-obsessed personality perfectly.

Release Date, Pricing, and Bundles

When can you get your hands on these sinister skins? While Epic Games has not officially announced the exact launch day, Fortnitemares traditionally kicks off in mid-to-late October. Insiders suggest we will see these Disney Villains hit the Item Shop somewhere between October 11 and October 18. This gives players plenty of time to run around as their favorite baddie before Halloween night.

As for the cost, expect standard crossover pricing. Individually, each skin is highly likely to cost around 1,500 to 1,800 V-Bucks. This usually includes the character outfit and a matching back bling. Epic will almost certainly offer a discounted bundle containing all three characters, their respective pickaxes, and exclusive emotes. If you want the whole set, you might want to start saving your V-Bucks now. It won’t be cheap.

More Than Just Cosmetics?

A crossover of this scale usually brings more than just shop items. Rumors are swirling that the Fortnite map will undergo some villainous transformations during the event. While we probably won’t get a massive new point of interest, we could see smaller, themed landmarks. Imagine Hook’s pirate ship, the Jolly Roger, docked near the coastline, or a spooky, thorny patch of land dedicated to Maleficent’s castle ruins.

Fortnitemares also regularly features special in-game items and weapons. It is entirely possible we could get a mythic item tied to these characters, like a magic staff that lets you cast green fire or a pirate sword with unique movement capabilities. Either way, this crossover is shaping up to be the crown jewel of this year’s autumn festivities. Keep your eyes on the skies and your V-Bucks ready.
