Fortnite Launches Sora Skin and Customizable Keyblades
Epic Games brings Kingdom Hearts to Fortnite with a customizable Keyblade pickaxe and multiple outfits for Sora in the latest Item Shop update.
A Dream Collab Becomes Reality
It is the crossover Fortnite players have begged for since Epic Games first started pulling characters from other worlds. Sora, the keyblade-wielding protagonist of the beloved Kingdom Hearts series, has officially arrived in the Fortnite Item Shop.
The surprise drop happened late Thursday night. It caught players completely off guard despite months of online rumors. For years, fans assumed licensing issues would keep the Disney and Square Enix property out of the battle royale forever. But those doubts evaporated when the shop reset, revealing the iconic hero ready to drop from the Battle Bus.
This is not just a basic skin release. Epic went all out to capture the magic of the franchise.
Customizing the Keyblade
No Kingdom Hearts crossover would be complete without the legendary Keyblade. Instead of selling multiple different harvesting tools, Epic took a highly customizable approach. The default Kingdom Key pickaxe can be modified directly in the locker. Players can swap its appearance to iconic variations like Oathkeeper, Oblivion, or the Shooting Star.
The weapon also features custom animations. Instead of the standard two-handed harvesting tool swing, Sora’s Keyblade uses a fast, fluid combat flow that mirrors his action-RPG roots. It even emits the signature star-shaped sparks whenever players strike a wall or farm resources.

Sora himself comes with three distinct styles. You can choose his classic look from the original game, his more mature outfit from Kingdom Hearts 2, or his highly detailed attire from Kingdom Hearts 3. Each style changes his hair and clothes to match the progression of the series.
The Power of a Billion-Dollar Partnership
The collaboration makes a lot of sense when you look at recent business moves. Earlier this year, Disney poured $1.5 billion into Epic Games to build a persistent universe connected to Fortnite. Many suspected Kingdom Hearts would be one of the first major properties to benefit from the deal. Licensing characters co-owned by Disney and Square Enix has historically been a logistical nightmare. Yet, the developers managed to pull it off, signaling a massive shift in how Disney intends to use its gaming partnerships going forward.
The community reaction was immediate. Within minutes of the shop reset, Kingdom Hearts and Sora were both trending globally on social media. Streamers scrambled to buy the bundle live on camera, and Fortnite lobbies quickly filled with squads of Soras hitting the latest emotes.
Pricing and Bundles
For players looking to buy the entire set, the Sora Bundle is available in the Item Shop for 2,600 V-Bucks. This package includes the Sora skin with all three styles, the customizable Keyblade pickaxe, a Gummi Ship glider, and a King Mickey back bling. If you prefer to buy items individually, the Sora outfit costs 1,500 V-Bucks, while the Keyblade is priced at 800 V-Bucks.
Epic also released a traversal emote called Trinity Limit for 500 V-Bucks. This emote lets players float slightly above the ground while a glowing, crown-shaped light shines beneath them. It even plays a rearranged, loopable version of the series’ iconic menu theme.
As Fortnite continues to establish itself as the ultimate pop-culture crossover platform, this release sets a new high bar. It proves that almost no character is truly off-limits. Whether we will see other characters like Riku, Kairi, or even Disney favorites in their Kingdom Hearts gear remains to be seen. For now, players are just happy to finally hold a Keyblade in the loop.
