Fortnite Item Shop Launches Huge Fortnitemares 2026 Preview
Epic Games surprises players with a massive Fortnitemares preview, debuting Ghostface and M3GAN alongside returning vaulted Halloween classics.
Epic Games is getting an early start on the spooky season. The developer just refreshed the Fortnite Item Shop with a surprise Fortnitemares 2026 preview. It gives players a sneak peek at this year’s massive Halloween celebration. The update mixes the old and the new. It features highly anticipated collaborations alongside the return of rare cosmetics that have been locked in Epic’s digital vault for years.
For players who live for the eerie atmosphere of October, this is a major event. Epic usually goes all out during the autumn months. However, this early tease suggests the developer wants to make 2026 the biggest Fortnitemares yet.
New Icons of Horror Join the Battle Royale
The headline of this shop refresh is the debut of two iconic figures from modern and classic horror. First up is Ghostface, the masked antagonist from the legendary Scream franchise. Rumors of a Ghostface skin have circulated in the Fortnite community for years. The final design does not disappoint. The outfit comes with his signature tattered black robes and a custom hunting knife harvesting tool. Players can also toggle between the classic white mask and a metallic silver variant.
Joining Ghostface is M3GAN, the killer AI doll from the hit Blumhouse thriller. The M3GAN skin captures her uncanny, polite-yet-menacing schoolgirl aesthetic perfectly. Epic even went the extra mile by adding a built-in emote. It allows players to perform her infamous viral hallway dance after securing a victory royale. It is a brilliant touch that is already blowing up on social media platforms like TikTok and X.
Both skins are available as individual purchases or as part of larger bundles. These bundles include themed back blings, gliders, and weapon wraps. They offer a slight discount for players looking to collect every item in the set.
Unlocking the Vault: Classic Spooks Return
Unlocking the Vault: Classic Spooks Return
While the new crossovers are grabbing the headlines, hardcore collectors are equally excited about the return of rare legacy skins. Epic Games has finally opened the vault. They brought back cosmetics that have been missing from the shop rotation for over 400 days.
Leading the charge is the beloved Michael Myers skin, complete with his signature stalking emote and the iconic Halloween theme music pack. Alongside the slasher icon, fans can once again purchase Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack’s bundle remains incredibly popular due to his dual styles. These styles allow players to switch between his classic pinstripe suit and his Santa Claus disguise.
Smaller but highly sought-after Halloween originals have also returned. The Hollowhead skin, with its glowing pumpkin face, and the spooky Shadow Midas are both back on the shelves. For players who missed out on these skins during previous years, this surprise shop refresh is a golden opportunity to fill the gaps in their digital lockers before the official event even begins.
Just a Taste of What is to Come
This Item Shop update is only a preview of the full Fortnitemares 2026 event. Epic Games has kept quiet about the official start date for the actual gameplay changes. Even so, reliable community dataminers suggest the main patch will drop next week.
When the full update arrives, players can expect the return of classic gameplay mechanics. The beloved Pumpkin Launcher is highly likely to replace standard rocket launchers, and the Witch Broom item will once again offer quick mobility across the island. Rumors also point to a revamped version of the cooperative Horde Rush mode, where squads must team up to fight off waves of Cube Monsters.
For now, the Item Shop preview serves as the perfect appetizer. Whether you want to stalk your opponents as Ghostface or hit the Griddy as M3GAN, the current store selection has something for every fan of the spooky season. Be sure to grab these skins quickly. Item Shop rotations are notoriously unpredictable, and these cosmetics could head back into the vault before you know it.
