Disney Villains Join Fortnite for Fortnitemares 2026
Epic Games brings Maleficent and Hades to Fortnite’s Fortnitemares 2026 with highly interactive, reactive skins and spooky cosmetics.
Disney’s Most Infamous Villains Take Over the Island
Halloween has officially arrived on the Fortnite island, and this year, Epic Games is leaning heavily into classic Disney nostalgia with a dark twist. For Fortnitemares 2026, the battle royale is welcoming some of the most iconic antagonists in animation history. The newly launched Disney Villains collection introduces Maleficent and Hades as fully playable, highly interactive outfits that react dynamically to gameplay.
This collaboration is not just another set of basic skins. Epic Games has built deep reactive features into these cosmetics, allowing players to visualizes their in-game success through the characters’ changing appearances. The update is already live, sending shockwaves through the Fortnite community as players rush to secure the new gear.
Maleficent Commands the Battle Royale Arena
Maleficent, the Mistress of All Evil, stands out as a flagship skin of the collection. Her character model is sleek, imposing, and instantly recognizable. She sports her signature horned headdress and flowing black-and-purple robes. But the real magic happens during active combat.
As players rack up eliminations, Maleficent’s robes begin to shimmer with her signature green magic. The effect intensifies with every shield crack and knock down. If you manage to secure a Victory Royale, her back bling—the iconic pet raven, Diablo—flaps its wings and lets out a piercing screech while green flames engulf her entire character model. Her harvesting tool, a glowing staff topped with a green orb, also pulses with magical energy with every swing.
“We wanted Maleficent to feel as menacing in the Battle Royale arena as she does in her classic films,” says Marcus Vance, a lead character designer at Epic Games. “Her green fire isn’t just a static texture. It’s tied to how you play. The better you perform, the more terrifying she becomes to opponents who see you coming.”

Hades Unleashes Underworld Fury
Hades, the quick-talking ruler of the Underworld from Disney’s Hercules, brings a completely different kind of energy to the game. His Fortnite adaptation captures his theatrical personality, complete with his smoky blue hair and gray, toga-like robes.
The reactivity for the Hades skin is tied directly to the player’s health and shield levels. When at full health and shields, Hades radiates a calm, cool blue flame from his head. However, as his shield gets cracked or his health drops, his flames turn a furious, bright orange-red, mirroring his hot-headed temper from the animated movie. He also comes equipped with the Potion of Mortality back bling, a small potion bottle containing the glowing soul of a defeated player.
His built-in emote, called “Feel the Heat,” allows players to briefly burst into a massive pillar of red flame, complete with his classic exasperated face from the film. It is a perfect way to taunt opponents after a close build battle.
A Broader Dark Kingdom Collaboration
Beyond the two headliners, Epic Games has also snuck in a few extra surprises for Disney fans. Captain Hook is joining the fray as a separate purchase, complete with a dual-wield pickaxe featuring his classic hook and a pirate cutlass. The Item Shop also features a variety of wrap designs, gliders, and lobby tracks inspired by the dark, whimsical music of the animated classics.
Players can purchase these cosmetics individually or through bundled packs. The Maleficent Bundle and the Hades Bundle are currently priced at 2,000 V-Bucks each, while a mega-bundle containing all the villains and their respective gear is available for 3,800 V-Bucks. This is a significant discount for players who want to collect the entire set before the Fortnitemares event concludes at the end of October.
The Disney Villains collection represents another step in Epic’s expanding partnership with Disney, following a major investment by the house of mouse earlier in the year. If these highly interactive skins are any indication, the future of this crossover looks incredibly bright—and delightfully wicked.
