Epic Games is bringing a permanent Disney Villains territory to Fortnite, marking a massive shift in how the game handles brand crossovers.

Epic Games Reveals Permanent Disney Villains Zone for Fortnite

Epic Games is turning up the scare factor for Fortnitemares 2026, and this time, the nightmare is here to stay. The gaming giant has revealed plans for its biggest Halloween update yet, introducing a massive, persistent territory themed entirely around classic Disney Villains.

Unlike previous seasonal crossovers that vanished once November arrived, this new zone will remain a fixture of the Fortnite map. The move marks the first major, permanent integration of Disney properties since the entertainment giant invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games back in 2024.

The expansion, officially named The Doom Dominion, is set to transform the northwestern portion of the battle royale island. It is a dark, twisted realm cloaked in perpetual twilight, dominated by towering gothic spires, neon-lit swamps, and jagged obsidian cliffs. The quiet, suburban hills of the old coast have been completely swallowed up. In their place sits a haunted shoreline that looks like it was ripped straight out of a classic animated film.

A Permanent Home for Disney’s Worst

For years, Epic has relied on rotating crossovers to keep Fortnite fresh. Players have seen Marvel heroes, anime icons, and pop stars drop in and out of the game. The Doom Dominion changes that strategy. This is not a temporary promotional stunt; it is a permanent piece of virtual real estate.

“We wanted to build something that outlives the spooky season,” says Saxs Persson, Executive Vice President of Epic’s Unreal Ecosystem. “This isn’t just a two-week event. It’s a persistent, living ecosystem where Disney’s classic antagonists can cause chaos year-round. It’s a core expansion of the Fortnite universe.”

The territory is divided into distinct regions, each ruled by a different iconic villain. At the center stands Maleficent’s crumbling fortress. Nearby, a river of souls flows through an underground cavern ruled by Hades, while Captain Hook’s ghostly galleon sits docked in a fog-heavy bay.

New Boss Fights and Mythic Loot

Players daring enough to venture into The Doom Dominion will face more than just storm circles. The territory is packed with hostile AI henchmen and powerful boss encounters. Defeating these villains yields high-tier, chaotic loot:

  • Maleficent’s Dragonfire Staff: A mythic weapon that allows players to summon pillars of green flame, dealing heavy area-of-effect damage to structures and opponents.
  • The Underworld Bident: Dropped by Hades, this weapon grants players increased movement speed and a short-range teleportation dash, perfect for escaping tight gunfights.
  • Hook’s Cutlass and Pistol: A fast-striking melee weapon paired with a high-damage flintlock pistol that knocks back enemies on impact.

The area also introduces a new high-speed traversal mechanic. Cruella de Vil has established a chaotic, hazard-filled racetrack winding through the outer edges of the territory. Players can hijack custom-modded, gothic-style sports cars equipped with spiked tires and nitro boosters to outrun the storm or chase down rivals.

The Road to a Persistent Disney Universe

This update represents a massive leap forward for Epic’s long-term collaboration with Disney. When Disney acquired its stake in Epic Games, CEO Bob Iger teased a multi-year project to create a massive, open-ended digital playground. The Doom Dominion is the first tangible proof of that vision in the main Battle Royale mode.

By embedding Disney assets permanently into the map, Epic is signaling a shift away from traditional gaming updates. Instead, the developer is building a digital theme park inside its shooter, bridging the gap between social hub and competitive game.

The Fortnitemares 2026 update is scheduled to go live in mid-October. Alongside the map expansion, players can expect a fresh Battle Pass featuring exclusive villain cosmetics, including selectable styles for Jafar, Ursula, and Captain Hook. While the spooky challenges and cosmetics will wrap up in November, the dark castles of The Doom Dominion are here to stay.
