Disney Villains Land in Fortnite for Fortnitemares 2026
Epic Games kicks off Fortnitemares 2026 by adding classic Disney Villains Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Cruella de Vil to the Item Shop.
Fortnitemares is back, and this time, the shadows over the island look a little more familiar. Epic Games has officially rolled out its 2026 Halloween event, and the headliners are not just random monsters. Instead, some of Disney’s most legendary antagonists have claimed the Item Shop. It is a crossover fans have anticipated since Epic announced its massive partnership with the entertainment giant.
Starting today, players can drop onto the island styled as Maleficent, Captain Hook, or Cruella de Vil. These are not simple, low-effort reskins. Epic went all out on the details, matching the classic animated styles of these characters while updating them for the chaotic world of Fortnite.
The Icons of Evil Enter the Shop
Let’s talk about the gear. Maleficent comes with a striking Raven back bling and a staff that doubles as a pickaxe. If you glide into battle as the Mistress of All Evil, you can even deploy a dragon-themed glider. Captain Hook looks appropriately menacing, complete with his elegant rapier and a miniature version of the Jolly Roger ship as back bling. Meanwhile, Cruella de Vil arrives with a high-fashion, punk-rock edge, sporting her signature heavy fur coat and a pickaxe shaped like a retro microphone stand.
Individual skins cost between 1,500 and 1,800 V-Bucks. However, players looking to collect the entire trio can grab the Disney Villains Bundle. At 3,800 V-Bucks, it is a steep price, but it includes all three characters, their respective back blings, and exclusive loading screens.
“We wanted this year’s Fortnitemares to feel genuinely classic,” Epic Games shared in their latest blog post. “Bringing these legendary Disney characters into our universe lets players experience nostalgia in a chaotic, high-stakes way.”

A Growing Corporate Friendship
This collaboration marks a major step in the ongoing relationship between the two brands. Disney invested $1.5 billion into Epic Games earlier this year, promising a persistent universe that lives alongside Fortnite. While that project is still in development, crossovers like this show how quickly the two companies can move when they want to dominate the seasonal spotlight.
Spooky Gameplay Changes
But Fortnitemares 2026 is about more than just expensive cosmetics. The island itself has undergone a spooky transformation. Thick fog has rolled across the map, obscuring sightlines and making long-range snipers much less viable. The beloved Horde Rush mode is also back, letting squads team up to fight off waves of Cube Monsters. This year, the mode features a few Disney-themed easter eggs, though Epic is keeping the exact secrets quiet for players to discover on their own.
Players can also find unvaulted weapons scattered across the map. The Pumpkin Launcher is back in rotation, alongside the Witch Broom, which offers a quick getaway when fights get too intense. Wood Stake Shotguns have also returned to help counter the rising threat of aggressive players.
Free Rewards and Competitive Balance
For those who do not want to spend real money, Epic has introduced a series of free in-game challenges. Completing these spooky quests unlocks a variety of cosmetics, including a Jack-o’-Lantern glider, a dark trails contrail, and several creepy lobby tracks. These challenges roll out in phases over the next two weeks, encouraging players to log in daily.
Competitive players should note that while the spooky weapons are active in standard Battle Royale and Zero Build playlists, they will not clutter ranked modes. Epic wants to keep the competitive meta clean while letting casual lobbies descend into total supernatural chaos.
Early reactions from the community have been overwhelmingly positive. Social media is already flooded with clips of Maleficent hitting modern dance emotes, a bizarre contrast that has become Fortnite’s signature charm. The event is scheduled to run through the first week of November, giving players plenty of time to earn seasonal rewards and decide if they want to embrace their dark side.
