Fortnite Fans Angry Over Leaked Wednesday Addams Skin Prices

Fortnite’s annual Halloween event is usually a time for celebration. But this year, a major leak has turned excitement into anger. Well-known data miners have revealed that characters from Netflix’s hit series Wednesday are coming to the battle royale for Fortnitemares 2026. While fans wanted the crossover, the leaked prices and design choices have caused a massive uproar online.

The Cost of Being Goth

Popular Fortnite leakers HYPEX and ShiinaBR shared the first images of the upcoming cosmetics early Tuesday morning. The crossover features Wednesday Addams in her Nevermore Academy uniform and her colorful roommate, Enid Sinclair. But the excitement quickly faded when the pricing details emerged.

According to the leaks, the base Wednesday Addams skin will cost 2,200 V-Bucks. Typically, major crossover skins retail for around 1,500 to 1,800 V-Bucks. To get the entire bundle—which includes both characters, a themed glider, and harvesting tools—players will have to shell out 3,800 V-Bucks. That translates to roughly $30 in real money.

  • Wednesday Addams Skin: 2,200 V-Bucks
  • Enid Sinclair Skin: 1,500 V-Bucks
  • Complete Wednesday Bundle: 3,800 V-Bucks
  • Thing Back Bling (Sold Separately): 800 V-Bucks

The decision to sell Wednesday’s iconic companion, Thing, as a separate item has drawn the most heat. Instead of bundling the severed hand with Wednesday, Epic Games is reportedly selling it on its own for 800 V-Bucks. On Reddit, fans did not hold back. One player called the move “pure greed,” pointing out that selling Wednesday without Thing is like selling Batman without his cape.

A Question of Likeness

The controversy does not stop at the price tags. The actual look of the skins has divided the community. Rather than using a realistic scan of actress Jenna Ortega, Epic Games went with a stylized, cartoonish aesthetic. The face has a slight cel-shaded look that some players feel misses the mark.

Get Know Inastant Reward

“It barely looks like her,” wrote one user on X. “It looks like a knock-off toy.” Others defended the style, noting that Fortnite often blends live-action characters into its signature art style to keep the game looking cohesive.

Industry experts suggest licensing issues might be the real reason behind the face model. Securing the rights to an actor’s exact face is notoriously difficult and expensive. Epic likely had to settle for a model that represents the character from the television show without legally copying Ortega’s exact facial features. But for players paying premium prices, that explanation is hard to swallow.

Will Epic Games Back Down?

Epic Games has kept quiet about the leaks so far. However, the studio has a history of changing things at the last minute if the community reacts poorly enough. In the past, they have lowered bundle prices or added extra items to resolve player complaints before an official release.

Whether they will do that this time is anyone’s guess. Fortnitemares 2026 is set to kick off in mid-october, and players will be watching the Item Shop closely to see if Epic decides to slash these prices.
