Fortnitemares 2026 Reveals Stranger Things Crossover and New PvE Modes
Epic Games confirms Fortnitemares 2026 will feature a massive Stranger Things crossover and brand-new survival-focused PvE gameplay modes.
The spooky season is officially descending on the Fortnite island, and Epic Games is not holding back this year. The developer has finally pulled back the curtain on Fortnitemares 2026. This year’s iteration of the annual Halloween event promises to be one of the most ambitious yet, centering on a massive collaboration with Netflix’s cult-favorite sci-fi series, Stranger Things, just as the show prepares to air its final season.
Rumors had been swirling for months, but Epic’s latest announcement confirms that players will be fighting more than just each other this October. The Upside Down is bleeding into the Battle Royale map, bringing a host of new PvE (Player vs. Environment) survival modes, terrifying new threats, and a fresh wave of iconic character cosmetics.
Surviving the Upside Down
The centerpiece of Fortnitemares 2026 is a brand-new, limited-time PvE survival mode called ‘Escape the Creel House.’ Unlike previous Halloween modes that relied on simple wave-defense mechanics, this new experience leans heavily into survival horror. Players will drop into a fog-shrouded Hawkins map fragment, completely isolated from the main Battle Royale island.
In groups of four, players must scavenge for resources, repair generator-like defense systems, and board up windows to keep out hordes of Demodogs and other creatures. As the match progresses, the environment decays, mimicking the creeping vines and ash of the Upside Down.
“We wanted to bring the absolute dread of the Upside Down directly to the Island,” Saxs Persson, Executive Vice President of the Fortnite Ecosystem at Epic Games, said in a statement. “This isn’t just about putting on a costume and running around. We built a gameplay loop that actually makes you feel vulnerable. You’ll have to work together, manage your ammo, and make hard choices about when to fight and when to run.”

Epic is also introducing a revamped version of the classic Horde Rush mode, complete with new bosses inspired by the show’s final season antagonists.
The Creel House Takes Over the Island
Battle Royale players will also feel the influence of the Upside Down. A new Point of Interest (POI) has materialized near the center of the map: the infamous Creel House. The location is shrouded in a permanent red storm cloud, and players who venture inside will experience gravity-defying anomalies and hear the ominous chiming of the grandfather clock.
Chests inside this zone have a chance to drop unique mythic items. The most notable is Eleven’s Telekinetic Glove, which allows players to lift and hurl vehicles or build pieces at their opponents. However, using these powers drains a stamina bar, leaving players temporarily defenseless if they overextend.
New Skins and Cosmetics
Of course, Fortnitemares wouldn’t be complete without shop updates. The highlight of the 2026 lineup is the long-awaited Vecna outfit, which features a reactive style that glows redder as you rack up eliminations. Players can also unlock Eleven’s final-season look, complete with a waffle-shaped back bling and a telekinetic emote.
Classic skins like the Demogorgon and Chief Hopper are also returning to the shop for players who missed them during their initial releases. Additionally, Epic has teased several secret quest rewards, including a free glider shaped like a Demobat for players who complete all the Fortnitemares challenges before the event concludes on November 3.
Fortnitemares 2026 kicks off officially on October 13, with patch 32.10. Players can jump in on all supported platforms, including PC, consoles, and cloud streaming services.
