Disney Villains Maleficent and Captain Hook Arrive in Fortnite
Classic Disney antagonists Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Cruella de Vil have officially joined the Fortnite Item Shop for the Fortnitemares 2026 event.
Halloween has officially come to Fortnite. This year, the villains are taking over.
Epic Games launched its highly anticipated Fortnitemares 2026 update this morning. The patch introduces a wave of spooky map changes, returning fan-favorite weapons, and a major collaboration with Disney. Starting today, players can head over to the Item Shop to purchase three of Disney's most legendary antagonists: Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Cruella de Vil.
Disney's Darkest Icons Join the Battle Royale
This is a massive moment for the battle royale. While Fortnite has featured plenty of Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar characters over the years, this marks the first time classic animated Disney villains have made their way into the game. The skins are not simple re-colors. They are highly detailed, expressive recreations of the classic animated characters, adapted to fit Fortnite's signature art style.
Maleficent is the standout for many players. The Mistress of All Evil comes equipped with her iconic horned headdress and elegant, flowing robes. Her bundle includes her loyal raven, Diablo, who perches on her shoulder as a reactive back bling. For a harvesting tool, she wields her classic magic staff, which glows with a green flame whenever you swing it at structures.
If you prefer the high seas, Captain Hook is ready for battle. The Peter Pan villain looks incredibly sharp in his crimson pirate coat and feather-trimmed hat. Naturally, his left hand is a hook, which players can actually use as a pickaxe. His back bling is a tiny, floating Jolly Roger ship that plays a subtle ticking clock sound—a nervous reminder of his crocodile nemesis.
Cruella de Vil completes the sinister trio. She brings her trademark half-black, half-white hairstyle and a dramatic fur coat to the island. Cruella's bundle is packed with style, featuring a fashionable handbag back bling and a vintage microphone stand pickaxe. She also gets an exclusive emote that lets her drive around the lobby in a miniature, smoking version of her classic red-and-black roadster.
Pricing and Bundles
The new cosmetics are available individually or as part of a larger bundle. Here is how the pricing breaks down in V-Bucks:
- Individual Character Outfits: 1,500 V-Bucks each
- Disney Villains Bundle (all three skins and matching cosmetics): 3,800 V-Bucks
- Individual Harvesting Tools: 800 V-Bucks each
The community reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. Social media is already flooded with clips of the new characters in action. Players are loving the sheer absurdity of the crossover, with many sharing videos of Maleficent dancing after securing a victory royale.
Spooky Gameplay and Horde Rush Return
But Fortnitemares 2026 is about more than just dressing up. The island itself has shifted into a darker, creepier version of its usual self. Thick fog rolled in overnight, reducing visibility in several key areas. The beloved Pumpkin Launcher has returned to the loot pool, alongside the high-damage Wood Stake Shotgun, which is perfect for dealing with the cube monsters spawning across the map.
Players can also jump into the returning Horde Rush mode. This co-op experience tasks teams of four with surviving waves of monsters while moving across the island. Completing Horde Rush and special Fortnitemares quests will unlock free in-game cosmetics, including a new glider, trail, and spooky loading screens.
Epic Games plans to keep the spooky festivities running until early November. That gives players plenty of time to complete their challenges and decide if they want to terrorize the lobby as Captain Hook or Maleficent. While the Item Shop rotation changes daily, these Disney skins are expected to remain available for at least the first week of the event. Jump in today and see if you have what it takes to survive the night.
