Fortnitemares 2026 Launches with Massive Horror Icon Skins
Fortnite kicks off Fortnitemares 2026 with iconic horror franchise skins, bringing legendary slashers and spooky gear to the Item Shop.
Fortnitemares 2026 Begins with Iconic Horror Icons
Spooky season has officially taken over the Island. Epic Games rolled out its highly anticipated Fortnitemares 2026 update today, turning the Fortnite Item Shop into a digital house of horrors. Fans have been waiting months for this. The annual Halloween event is famous for its crossover skins, and this year, Epic did not hold back.
Headlining the first wave of cosmetics are legendary horror icons. Players waking up to check their screens this morning were greeted by none other than Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Billy the Puppet from the Saw franchise. Rumors about these collaborations had been circulating on Reddit and X for weeks. Now, they are finally here.
Chainsaws and Tricycles in the Item Shop
The Leatherface bundle is particularly brutal. It comes with his iconic chainsaw as a harvesting tool, complete with a custom revving sound effect that plays whenever you swing it. There is also a creepy meat hook back bling. For Saw enthusiasts, Billy the Puppet arrives with a miniature tricycle emote. Watching a giant battle royale character ride a tiny red tricycle across the lobby is just the kind of dark humor Fortnite players live for.
Epic also introduced matching weapon wraps that mimic blood splatters and rusted metal. It is a surprisingly mature aesthetic for a game that attracts younger players, but Epic has handled it carefully. The skins feature toggleable options, allowing players to turn off some of the more intense visual elements if they prefer a slightly tamer look. This attention to detail has earned praise from parents and hardcore horror buffs alike.
These skins do not just look good. They represent a major licensing win for Epic Games. Over the years, the developer has slowly gathered the most famous slashers in cinema history. Adding these latest legends to a roster that already boasts Michael Myers and Jack Skellington solidifies Fortnite as the ultimate pop-culture sandbox.
“I bought the Billy skin the second the shop reset,” says long-time player Marcus Vance. “The custom lobby track that plays the theme music from the movies is worth the V-Bucks alone. Epic really nailed the details this time.”

Cursed POIs and the Return of Horde Rush
But Fortnitemares is about more than just spending V-Bucks. The island itself has undergone a dramatic transformation. A thick, eerie fog now blankets several major points of interest. Grim Gate has turned a dark, bubbling purple, and haunted lampposts flicker along the roads. Players can find candy corn and pepper mints scattered on the ground, offering quick health and speed boosts.
The fan-favorite Horde Rush mode is also back. In this cooperative game mode, players team up to fight off waves of Cube Monsters while moving across the map. This year’s version features tougher boss fights and exclusive rewards. Players can unlock a free spooky weapon wrap and a loading screen designed by a community artist just by completing a few event challenges.
Unvaulted Weapons and Original Creepy Skins
Epic has also unvaulted some classic Halloween weapons. The Wood Stake Shotgun is back in the loot pool, ready to deal massive damage to monsters and enemy players alike. The Witch Broom has also returned, allowing players to escape tight skirmishes by launching into the sky and gliding to safety. And, of course, the Pumpkin Launcher is firing explosive jack-o’-lanterns once again.
Alongside the famous movie stars, Epic released a few original spooky concepts. This year’s standout is Graveheart, a gothic, gargoyle-inspired warrior whose stone wings expand with every elimination you get during a match. It is a brilliant touch that has already made the skin a favorite among competitive players.
Players are already sharing clips of their wildest moments on TikTok and YouTube. One viral video shows a squad of four Billy the Puppets riding their tricycles in a synchronized line through the ruins of Brawler’s Patch, only to be blown up by a well-timed Pumpkin Launcher rocket. It is exactly the kind of chaotic, unpredictable gameplay that keeps the community coming back every October.
As for pricing, the horror bundles are currently sitting in the shop for 1,800 to 2,500 V-Bucks each, depending on how many cosmetic extras you want to grab. Individual skins can be purchased for 1,500 V-Bucks. The event is scheduled to run until early November, giving players plenty of time to complete their challenges. If the initial reaction is any indication, this might be one of the most successful Fortnitemares events in the game’s history.
